HYPER JAPAN 2012

A couple of weeks ago I ventured to Hyper Japan for some Japanese inspiration, check out the website at www.hyperjapan.co.uk. I would 100% recommend going to one of these Japanese conventions, its quirky, cool and creative and has so many interesting stalls. There are amazing food stalls and high-tech stalls selling clever toilets to robotic hands, but I was most interested in the fashion stalls. There are hand crafted accessories, jewellery and clothes made from the cutest inspiration, such as cupcakes, birds and icrecreams, but also edgier accessories made from lego, retro tapes and other little bits and pieces, theres even a stall that sells fabric finger broches. A few of my favourite stalls were 'Deer oh Deer' have a browse on their webiste and catch up on their blog www.deerohdeer.co.uk, 'Ilovekitsch', this brand can be found by searching them on facebook and 'twobadbannans', chek them out on Etsy, www.twobadbananas.etsy.com, I think they may be my favourites, they were at Hyper last year and I couldnt help but purchase a necklace with a miniature sundae on it! If you look on the Hyper Japan website click on the events option at the top of the screen, then on the drop down menu click on 'Cool' and a list of the stalls come up, have a look and see, you are guaranteed to find something you cant resist. I also watched the fashion show displaying Japanese street fashions, here a few pictures I managed to take over the heads of the huge crowd:

The Lolita's dresses were amazing, though I wouldn't choose to dress this way myself I admire their attitudes towards wearing what they want to wear, and they happen to want to wear lovely frilly, girly dresses! I wrote my disseration on Japanese Lolita's and whether they were seen in a sexual light, so seeing them in the fashion show was interesting.
The crowds are also amazing at Hyper Japan, most are dressed in their favourite manga or gaming character or as a lolita and other Japanese street style. Its amazing to be surrounded by so much creativity and excitement. Everyone is friendly and happy to be photographed,

I will definately be going to the next one, its only £10 pounds early bird tickets and there is so much to see! x

Miniature Blue Planets!

For inspiration and as a response to blue coral found in the depths, I decided to make some alien creatures myelf. Mergingues with blue food dye in give a very unique (and inedible) effect!
