New Designers comes to a close!

New Designers is now over, it was a brilliant week and a great opportunity to meet those working in the industry. I handed out a few business cards and had a few people enquire about my garments and even ended up tweeting Will. I. Am! There was so much fantastic graduate talent and such a variety of work it was a great atmosphere to be in, if you havent checked out the website yet be sure to do so!

Here are a few photos of the event:

Setting up.

University's work

Everyone's work looked amazing, well done to everyone who participated! Fingers crossed we all get brilliant jobs in the industry!

Photo shoot in Brighton!

Today me and my model Hayley spend the day shooting in Brighton, we got a few head turns but it was such good fun! Brighton is such a vibrant and diverse city I thought it would be an ideal urban setting for my bold collection, also the south decided to have a few hours of summer so it was a perfect day. Heres a few photos from the shoot:

These photos will be used on my business cards and other promo material, so pleased with the results! xx

Prep for New Designers event!

New designers is looming closer and closer so am working hard to get everything organised. Today I have been building shelves and rails with my extremely talented father,

Here is the shelf and the small clothes rail which have been expertly painted by yours truly! I have also been making some decorative fabric coral to place around my space at the exhibition,

Im hoping to frame the top and bottom of my designated space with this fabric coral, hopefully it will give an under water feel! Today I have also started to set up my proper online portfolio and website which I will post the link to soon, I have also created my QR codes for this blog and my website which will feature on my promo material! All in all im feeling like a technical wizard right now.

I also have another photoshoot booked for monday set in Brighton, hoping to get some street fashion shoots and whilst we are shooting I am hoping to produce a stop motion promo film too. Stay tuned for photos! x

Graduate Fashion Show!

The Fashion show went really well and everyones work looked amazing. The show ended with my collection which was cool, I didnt even have time to be nervous about it as I was helping get the models dressed and in the right order back stage. The models did a great job as did everyone who helped organise it! Heres a link to a video of the show in its entirety: http://vimeo.com/43540972
Take a quick peep, My collection is at minuet 30.30!

We also had a static show displaying our collections, heres a couple of photos to give you an idea of what it looked like :

The exhibition is still open in Eldon building in Portsmouth so feel free to check it out!

Next up is New Designers (www.newdesigners.com) I've been trying to design my space all day but its a case of too many ideas for too small a space! Its nice to keep the creative juices flowing though, especially after FMP. Watch this space for updates and ideas! x

Dazzle and Defend Photoshoot!

On Friday I had my photoshoot for my collection Dazzle and Defend! It was great to see my garments on an actual model and seeing how they would actually be worn. The photographer, Willow Mirza, did an amazing job of directing the shoot and getting the details I wanted on show. Here are a few photos of the shoot as it was happening:

And here a few samples of the outcomes of the shoot!

I will put up a couple of edited versions soon, these photos will be used on my promo material and the universitys promo material for our graduate show. Also more exciting news, I have been chosen to showcase my collection and portfolio at the New Designers event in London at the end of June, which will be an amazing opportunity to be seen by people in the industry and to get my name out there! And on top of all that My mark for this collection was a First! What a week. x

FMP outcomes!

Final Major Project deadline has come and all my work has been handed in, sadly, as I would have loved to have carried on with my theme, I found it really inspiring and loved responding to my research and developing the design process. However I am so thrilled with the garments I made and all the hard work, long hours and sewing injuries were more than worth it!

Here is the board showcasing my final collection:

I am completely in love with my little fashion illustration named Akiko, meaning sparkle in Japanese! I can really imagine these designs being worn on the Streets of Harajuku, I like to think of the look as under ground lux- grunge streetwear. Here are some photos of the actual final pieces too:

 Details of tops:

I am really pleased with the button details on the jumper and shirt, they are the most gorgeous buttons! The electric blueys on the jumper are from Cloth House in Soho, definatly a fashion students heaven, they have so many gorgeous and unique fabrics. The funky black and white buttons on the shirt are from a fabric shop on Goldhawk Road called A one fabrics.
To go with the tops I made these unique and bizarre looking leggings, sorry the photos arent that great a quality, hopefully after my photoshoot I will have some really lovely professional shots!

Hopefully my photoshoot will scheduled soon and I can pop them on my blog so that you can see my garments at their best! Im so pleased with my prints as well, I really think they give my designs a unique and quirky feel, overall I am so pleased! Also I have got my graduate fashion show coming up on the 1st of June which will be in the Eldon building at the University of Portsmouth, if any of you would like to come and see the amazing creations that the girls and I have made for our final major project pleae come along, there will be shows at 5.30 and 6.30 pm xx
